Women Supporting Women: The Power of Lifting each other up

I can’t overstate the importance of women supporting women. One of my favourite quotes is about being the person who fixes another woman’s crown… the sentiment of which is such that we stand on each others’ shoulders and support each other to succeed without the bitchiness of competing against each other… because let’s face it, we deal with enough crap already in a severely inequitable world…

I love hearing stories of women supporting women, lifting each other up and celebrating their successes as if they were their own… my most treasured friendships are with super successful women who I admire and cheer for, every step of the way, and they likewise do the same for me.

This article is timely, as I’m writing while on holidays, having had the privilege of witnessing some of the Paris Olympics (where our Aussie women brought home the bling, big time) and being at the finish line of the Tour de France Femmes. I also had the privilege of meeting both Bridie O’Donnell, a woman trail blazing in the cycling world and a fantastic addition to the SBS cycling commentary team and Grace Brown, recent Australian time- trialing gold medalist in the Paris Olympics and finishing the Tour de France in an incredible 27th place in the General Classification (in her last season before retirement, no less!)

Seeing the incredible strength, grit and resilience of these amazing athletes made me pause to think about all of the hard work, both physically and mentally that they put in…

Mindset coaching for athletes isn’t anything new, but I reckon there’s definitely something about mindset coaching for non-elite athletes…. Because, like athletes, we mere mortals are juggling just as much stuff- work, life, family, self -care (what self care? I hear you say…) and when do women ever get the time and space to be heard? And I mean really heard, without judgement?

Working with a female coach, also has it’s benefits, in that we bring a unique approach that is often rooted in our own experiences of overcoming adversity… and whilst coaching is about asking powerful questions and using the coachee’s own experiences and knowledge to guide her thinking, there’s definitely something in having a coach that gets it…

If you’re keen to find out how coaching works, don’t hesitate to drop me a line, or book a complimentary session with me to see what it’s all about…

Because women deserve someone on their team who have their best interests at heart….
